As part of the ANSES COMBO project, Amélie's objective is to set up a periphyton sampling campaign in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region in order to (i) characterize the spatial heterogeneity of the periphyton meta-metabolome, (ii) implement a predictive metabolomics approach based on machine learning tools to characterize the factors controlling metabolome heterogeneity by identifying metabolites or groups of metabolites capable of predicting physico-chemical conditions and, more generally, the ecological and chemical status of waters.

Ultimately, this work aims to improve biomonitoring approaches through the identification of biomarkers, and to facilitate the identification of confounding factors for the interpretation of meta-metabolome responses in situ or under controlled conditions.
