The Biodiversity Committee of the Cestas-Gazinet - St-Seurin-sur-l'Isle site was set up on the initiative of agents from the site's units, in 2019, with the support of the EABX unit. The aim is to identify and assess the biodiversity hosted on the Gazinet and St-Seurin-sur-l'Isle sites, and to propose actions to raise awareness among site staff, and to manage green spaces and landscaping, with the aim of encouraging the establishment and biodiversity on our sites.

Gazinet

The first inventories have shown that, despite the peri-urban location of these sites (at least the Gazinet site), a rich and fairly diversified population is present, settled or passing through, in hedges, grassy areas, wooded areas, meadows or water. A few patrimonial species have even been discovered. Several types of action have been initiated such as the creation of information panels, a management plan, or concrete proposals for the redevelopment of certain areas with an ecological objective: planting local species installation of nesting boxes, conservation of dead wood, hedges, ..., reduced mowing for improving plant diversity in meadows.
