My PhD project focuses on the genetic and taxonomic diversity of isoetid communities, a group of small macrophyte species found on the shores of Aquitaine's coastal lakes. Working collaboratively between the EABX and BIOGECO units, one of my primary objectives is to contribute novel genetic information on the nine species selected for this project with sequencing-based microsatellite genotyping, an innovative, cost-effective, and fast technique. Using this data, I will be able to compare populations across various organizational (populations/communities) and spatial scales (within lakes/between lakes). The ultimate goal of this thesis is to examine the correlation between these genetic data and species-specific data (number of species present at each site) in order to understand the dynamics of isoetid communities.
