My research focuses on the effects of chemical contaminants on freshwater benthic (periphyton and sediment) microbial communities. I am particularly interested in the functional response and adaptation of these communities to a wide range of contaminants, including metals, pesticides and drug residues. I carry out my research in collaboration with members of my team and other researchers, using field approaches and experiments under controlled laboratory conditions.
