IT tools around the European sturgeon

The EABX unit has been working for several decades on the reintroduction of the European sturgeon (Acipenser sturio). Various tools have been put in place to manage all the available data.

Since the 1980s, the research unit has been working on the reintroduction of the European sturgeon, mainly in the Gironde estuary.
Spawners caught in the 1990s were reared in our experimental station at Saint-Seurin sur l'Isle, and spawning has allowed the release of fish into the natural environment mainly from 2007. Scientific fishing is carried out regularly in the estuary to verify the state of the population, and professional fishermen report any incidental fishing they may have carried out.
To manage all the data related to this program, several computer tools have been implemented. Essentially based on web technologies, they all feed the same database hosted on a Postgresql server.

ESFC - Ex Situ Fish Conservation

ESFC is an application designed to manage all the information related to the rearing of breeders in the Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle station: individual monitoring of fish, monitoring of rearing basins, feeding, reproduction.
More than a hundred tables in the database are necessary to record all the information.

It has been published in Open-Source in Github: https://github.com/Irstea/esfc

STURAT

STURAT is our tool for monitoring scientific fisheries in the estuary. The application runs in Java and is embedded in the fishing boat. The data are synchronized with the central database upon return from the fishing campaigns.

STURWILD

STURWILD allows the recording of accidental fishing declarations reported by professional fishermen. The data are anonymized. An average of 200 catches are reported annually.
