TRANSECT

TRANSECT - monitoring of the environment in the estuary

TRANSECT is a database and tools used to monitor the evolution of the fish population in the Gironde estuary.

Since the 1980s, the research unit has carried out scientific fishing almost every month on either side of the Blayais nuclear power station to monitor the evolution of the fish population.
The catches are carried out at fixed points (currently 12 stations), on the surface and on the bottom, and concern small fish and invertebrates.
The database, hosted in a Postgresql server, is fed from an application written in Java and used on the boat, and by an internal web application, to record the analyses carried out in the laboratory (specific determination, counting).
