Experimentation rooms

Experimentation rooms

The 5 multi-purpose experimental rooms, all air-conditioned, are mainly dedicated to experiments on micro-algae, micro-meiofauna and aquatic plants (macrophytes).

Examples of experiments carried out: toxicity tests for micropollutants on biofilms (particularly pesticides and metals), germination tests, growth tests, monitoring of photosynthetic activity, grazing tests on biofilms.

The Saint-Seurin experimental station can also be used to carry out other types of experiments on the aquatic plant community

Main equipment shared by the 5 experimental rooms

  • programmable LED lighting system (e.g. day/night cycle, light intensity)
  • these rooms can be opaque to allow experiments in the dark
  • experimental channels and aquariums of various sizes
  • ring bioreactor
  • peristaltic and submersible pumps
  • shaking table
  • refrigerated cabinets and -80°C freezer available nearby
  • all equipped with a wired and wireless computer network connected to the site's computer servers
  • all the tools and resources required for observations and data acquisition in the PVA unit

This 8 m² room, with a 3.0 m high ceiling, can be used for experiments and/or cultivation on benches and in pens.
This 25 m² room, with a 2.5 m high ceiling, can be used for tabletop experiments.
This room offers more precise temperature control than other experimental rooms. It is particularly modular, with removable benches (up to 6 m long) enabling the full volume of the room (36 m³, 12 m²) to be used.
This 44 m² room can accommodate experiments requiring large experimental structures, which can be placed directly on the floor or on benches.
This 19 m² room, with a ceiling height of 3.6 m, can accommodate experiments requiring large experimental structures, which can be placed directly on the floor or on benches.
